Sevre thunderstorms moved into Central Illinois around 530 Sunday evening.png

DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - The strong storms left a slew of damage yesterday evening. The bulk of the damage reports was south of I-72. Montgomery County saw damage across multiple buildings, including Nokomis High School.

The storms zipped through with warnings starting around 6 and ended just after 8 pm. Temperatures plunged behind the front, and light snow will linger through the middle of the day.

We have returned to a winter feel for Central Illinois. Snow has shifted to flurries, but icy road conditions and wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph are still making travel very hazardous. Take your time while driving through the afternoon and overnight hours.

Temperatures will stay very cold through Wednesday morning. The Spring weather will return by Thursday afternoon.
