5 things to do this weekend across central Illinois Aug. 8-10

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across central Illinois.

Here are a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening Friday, August 8 to Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Concerts at the Devon

The sounds of the summer are alive at the Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater. Their weekend line up of performances and movies is ready to welcome families to grab a chair and come enjoy.

Friday kickstarts the lineup with a performance by Steven Adler of Guns N Roses, and special guest the Michael Weber Show. The weekend set-list concludes on Sunday with Boys Like Girls taking the stage with special guest Every Avenue.

217 ALZ Backyard Wiffle Ball Classic

Bringing the Community together to raise funds to further the research towards finding a cure for Alzheimer's the 217 ALZ Backyard Wiffle Ball Classic returns for the its 10th year.

When: Friday, Aug. 8 - Sunday, Aug. 10, from 10:00am - 9:30pm

Lucky Horseshoes Legends Classic

Take your family out for a night at the ballpark! The Lucky Horseshoes host the 2025 Legends Classic 4 this weekend.

The starting lineup will feature legendary players from MLB teams like the Chicago Cubs, White Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, and more. Before the game there will be a VIP Meet and Greet at 4:30pm, gates open at 5:30pm, and the first pitch will be thrown at 6:30pm.

Flamazing Race!

The Champaign-Urbana Special Recreation will host the first ever Flamazing Race, a twist on the classic duck race. The fundraiser will take place at the Sholem Aquatic Center on Sunday.

This time, flamingos will soar down the lazy river slide in a fierce competition to support CUSR’s Flamazing programs.

Gather poolside to watch as these vibrant flamingos float, race, and spin their way to the finish line. Cheer for your favorite bird and see who emerges victorious and who gets left behind!

Champaign-Urbana Days

Champaign-Urbana Days is a three-day celebration honoring the community's heritage and culture, with over 30 years of tradition.

The event features live music, local cuisine, a marketplace with vendors, and free back-to-school supplies. There are also activities for kids, including face painting and balloon animals, as well as a CU All Stars basketball tournament.

When: Friday, Aug. 8, 5:00-8:00p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, 11am-7pm., Sunday, Aug. 10, 1:00pm-6:00pm
