5 Things to do this weekend

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across central Illinois.

Here is a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening from Friday, July 10, to Sunday, July 12. 

Christmas in July at The Railyard

Beat the heat and celebrate Christmas in July at The Railyard in Springfield this weekend. Attendees can enjoy vendors, "snowfall," holiday music, an appearance from Summer Santa and more. 

Participating food vendors will include The Chicken Coop, Best Day Ever BakeShop, The Drinking Well, Elevated Appetites, El Dorado and Oakview BBQ. There will also be live music by Doug Brant from 6-9 p.m. Friday and by DJ WayZee from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. 

When: 4-9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday

Where: The Railyard, 2242 S. 6th Street, Springfield

Cosmic Bowling

Bowl under the black lights with glowing lanes during Cosmic Bowling at Logan Lanes in Lincoln. Enjoy a night under the disco lights with family and friends as you aim to strike up a win.

When: 10 p.m. to midnight Friday, 2-4 p.m. Saturday

Where: Logan Lanes, 1700 5th Street, Lincoln

Josiah Queen at the Devon 

Josiah Queen, along with special guests Strings & Heart, will rock the Devon Saturday night. Queen is best known for his hit single “Dusty Bibles,” which reached the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified Gold in under six months after its release.

Unplug with the Springfield Park District 

Get out and unplug from the grid for an afternoon with the Springfield Park District! There will be several events for local families to enjoy as they enjoy the outdoors. Participating park district sites on Saturday, along with times, are as follows:

  • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Henson Robinson Zoo
  • 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Nelson Center Pool
  • 3-5 p.m., Nelson Center Ice Rink

Sunday Afternoon Goat Hike

Spend Sunday with your herd, or the herd at Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery. Sunday Afternoon Goat Hikes will last up to an hour and will go past Saline Creek through the wooded area and around the pond, with plenty of photo opportunities. 

When: 1:30-2:30 p.m., Sunday

Where: Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery, Champaign
