ATWOOD, Ill. (WAND) — The village of Atwood approved a new development project for Atwood Park to build several new facilities in the area.
The project will span over the next three years and will include the construction of a new concession/pavilion building, a new playground area, a new T-ball diamond, additional parking, a dog park and pickleball courts.Â
The village said the estimated cost of phase one, which includes construction of the concession/pavilion building and the playground area, is estimated to cost $200,000.Â
According to the village, it will apply for a state grant to pay for 50% of the phase one cost. The village is also accepting private donations, with a total of $12,500 received so far.
People who donate a certain amount to this phase of the project will have their names placed on a donor's sign that will be installed on the new concession building. Donations can be dropped off at the Atwood village office or be mailed to the village.
