FORSYTH, Ill. (WAND) - A former Macon County Sheriff's deputy arrested for a driving under the influence last year has pleaded guilty to reckless driving and DUI.
Court records stated that Andrew Ziegler pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors and was fined $575.Â
He will also be placed under a 12-month supervision period.Â
In December 2025, body camera footage showed Ziegler was stuck on a snowy median after police said he drove away from them.Â
A deputy working in the Forsyth area at 2 a.m. on Dec. 15 saw Ziegler's vehicle going north on US Route 51 at a high speed.Â
His car slid into the center median multiple times on US Route 51 before MCSOÂ deputies eventually found the vehicle stuck in a ditch on Washington Street Road.
Ziegler was immediately placed on paid administrative leave, and resigned in February after having been employed as a deputy with the department since April 2024.Â
