CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The Champaign Police Department is releasing the results of its traffic enforcement campaign. 

The goal of the campaign was to reduce impaired driving and address seat belt violations from June 20 to July 7. 

The campaign was held in partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois State Police, and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies. 

During the campaign, Champaign police committed personnel to 17 hours of dedicated traffic enforcement. 

During the 18-day period, efforts led to: 

  • 11 arrests for Driving Under the Influence 
  • 2 warnings and 6 citations for speeding
  • 3 citations for driving without insurance
  • 2 citations for driving without a valid license
  • 2 citations for moving violations
  • 1 warning and 1 citation for equipment violations
