CHARLESTON, Ill. (WAND) - The City of Charleston said Friday that the City of Mattoon requested temporary water supply support to assist in replenishing water tower levels.
The Charleston Parks and Recreation Department added in a July 18 Facebook post that the city immediately consulted with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency to ensure all public health and safety standards would be met.Â
According to the post, Charleston Parks and Rec added that the IEPA believes there will be no cross-contamination issues with Charleston serving Mattoon. Â
"This cooperative effort reflects the strong partnership between the two communities and our commitment to ensuring safe, reliable water service for all residents," the department said in the post.Â
