DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The James Millikin Homestead in Decatur will host two upcoming open houses as part of its Lucien Kapp Art Competition.
The open houses will take place from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27, at the Homestead.
During the open houses, the public can tour the property and vote on their favorite artwork for the "People's Choice Award."
There will be a final open house from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31, where the winners will be announced. The first-place winner's artwork will be displayed at the Homestead until a winner is named at next year's competition.
Kapp was an artist and lifelong Decatur resident who taught art at Millikin University from 1960-63.
