SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND)—City Water, Light and Power is letting customers know that a spoof email claiming to be from CWLP’s Customer Service Office is going around.
According to the CWLP the spoofing email is requesting customers to "Review A Confidential Document & Sign" and references a DocuSign application.
CWLP Customer Service assures that they do not use DocuSign for signatures or send web links as a request to customers to review or sign documents by email.
Anyone who receives a suspicious emails should ignore or delete it.
CWLP also wants customers to know not to be fooled by an email address or Caller ID presenting as a local contact. They say scammers use "spoofing" and pose as the source to trick you into answering or responding.
Customers can verify their account information by contacting CWLP Customer Service by phone (217-789-2030) or email cwlp.customer@cwlp.com.
