UPDATE: Due to water challenges as well as below-zero wind chill temperatures, District 118 will pivot to an E-Learning day for Friday, Jan. 19.

Statement from Aqua Illinois

Due to extreme temperatures in the region, our Danville Water Treatment Plant and system has been under extreme stress for the past several days, resulting in significant equipment failure. We have been working around the clock to address this issue and support safe and reliable water service. At this point we are experiencing limited service disruptions and decreased water pressure that will continue until we are able to resume normal operations.

While we have no indication of water quality issues, we are issuing a precautionary Boil Water Advisory for a small number of customers. This advisory, issued in consultation with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, is for approximately 2,076 customers in communities North of Boiling Springs Road and on W. Newell Road, at N. Vermilion Street to N. Bowman Ave, and South to airport.

Customers in the areas listed above should boil their water at least FIVE minutes before using or use bottled water.  They should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice. If boiling water, bring it to a rolling boil, let it boil for five minutes, and let it cool before using.

For real-time information on this situation, customers can:

We request our customers to use water conservatively and only as necessary as we return our plant to full capacity. We will keep customers updated of our progress, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
