DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Danville City Council alderman, Robert "Bob" Iverson, has passed away at the age of 74.Â
According to an obituary from Sunset Funeral Home, Iverson died on Thursday in Peoria.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 30, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church, in Danville. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Iverson was born in Chicago and grew up in Glenview. He went on to attend Southern Illinois University, where he met his wife, Judith, before eventually settling in Danville.
Throughout his career, he gained experience in both the news and public relations fields, having served as a reporter at WITY radio, a spokesperson for Danville School District 118, and as the Communications Coordinator for the Danville medical center and the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center at the University of Illinois.
Iverson dedicated 30 years of his life to First Presbyterian Church in Danville, where he was a valued elder and participated in various committees and groups.
His efforts were crucial in First Presbyterian earning the distinction of being the only church in Illinois to receive the Illinois Sustainability Award. Additionally, he was involved in several local organizations, such as Kiwanis, the Alzheimer’s Alliance, and the Palmer Arena Board.
Iverson was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, a grandson, and three siblings.
