Ameren worker electrocuted 6.12.26

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Ameren has issued a statement after one of its workers was injured Friday evening while working to restore power in a Decatur neighborhood. 

Decatur police told WAND News that officers responded to a call about a lineman hanging from a utility pole after being electrocuted around 7 p.m. in the South Shores area.

An Ameren spokesperson sent the following statement to WAND on Monday:

"On Friday evening, an Ameren employee was injured while restoring power in a Decatur neighborhood. The health and safety of our employees and the communities we serve is our highest priority. Our thoughts are with our co-worker, his family and all those close to him."

It is still unclear how it happened and what the worker's condition is.
