DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Scar, the European glass lizard, from the Scovill Zoo visited the WAND news studio on July 30.Â
Scar may look like a snake, but he is actually a lizard. He has external ear flaps and eyelids, unlike snake. Some glass lizards do live in southern Illinois, but European glass lizards like Scar are native of course to Europe. Â
Scar is 15 years old. He is a carnivore. Glass lizards survive mostly on insects but can also eat small mammals.Â
The Scovill Zoo is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
