DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Scar, the European glass lizard, from the Scovill Zoo visited the WAND news studio on July 30.

Scar may look like a snake, but he is actually a lizard. He has external ear flaps and eyelids, unlike snake. Some glass lizards do live in southern Illinois, but European glass lizards like Scar are native of course to Europe.

Scar is 15 years old. He is a carnivore. Glass lizards survive mostly on insects but can also eat small mammals.

The Scovill Zoo is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
