BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WAND) — A shelter village will soon be under construction in Bloomington.

Home Sweet Home Ministries is building a tiny home shelter village for the homeless. It will be on Oakland and Main Streets, near Connect Transit.

The location will serve up to 56 adults in single-person tiny homes.

"We do not have any non-congregate shelters. So, it will add both capacity to our system, but it also provides a different configuration of services to our system," said Home Sweet Home Ministries CEO Matt Burgess. "We're excited not just about adding additional space, but doing it in a more innovative way."

The group says they still need $750,000 to complete the project. Donation information can be found on their website.
