DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) -- On Monday, the Pritzker administration awarded $55.2 million in Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grants to 100 different park districts across Illinois. The Decatur Park District and the Danville Park District are both in the process of renovating their Garfield Parks.

Decatur Park District was awarded a $400,000 OSLAD Grant. Clay Gerhard, the Executive Director of the Decatur Park District, said they have been revitalizing Garfield Park over the course of the last year, but the renovations are far from over.

"We will be, installing, the basketball courts, the walking trails. We have the pavilion and the restrooms and the pavilion, installing another pavilion for folks to, have, their lunches and whatnot. And just to be able to kind of put the icing on the cake when it comes to the project."

The Danville Park District was awarded $600,000, and this is their next phase after renovations to their community pool. The Grant Manager for the City of Danville, Cailee Sanchez, said they have big plans for this year's grant.

"The major components within this grant are playground equipment. So that will feature a variety of play sets for ages 2 to 12 years old. Aside from that, we're also going to have, like, a cement style cornhole game. So it'll be like fixed to the property...And then we'll also have a pavilion, like a covered pavilion for picnics and, outings and that kind of thing, and then also just have like some shaded area for parents to hang out."
