SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The state of Illinois wants to hear you tell your story to the world in honor of the nation's 250th birthday.
Illinois Voices 250, led by the Illinois America 250 Commission and in partnership with Illinois Humanities and StoryCorps Studios, will record a series of conversations between everyday residents at several upcoming recording sessions.
The sessions will take place on the following dates:
- Thursday: Little Village Public Library, Chicago, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Friday: Washington Park near the Washington Theater, Quincy, 5-7 p.m.
- Saturday: Washington Park near the Washington Theater, Quincy, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Wednesday, July 8: Peoria Riverfront Museum, Peoria, 1-4 p.m.
- Aug. 13 to 22: Illinois State Fair, Springfield, 1-4 p.m. daily
- Saturday, Aug. 15: Project XV Museum, El Paso, 4-8 p.m.
Illinoisans can also do the recordings themselves online.
The recordings will be preserved and stored in the Library of Congress.
