JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — What has been dubbed the "World's Tallest Advent Calendar" is returning for 2025 in Jacksonville.
The 110-foot-tall Farmers State Bank and Trust Company transforms its building into a Christmas countdown every year.
Each window will display a symbol of the season, with a new symbol revealed daily from December 1 through the 24.
Just like a home advent calendar gives candy each day that is revealed, people are invited to come into the lobby and get a sweet treat during business hours.Â
On December 1 at 4:45 p.m., the Illinois College drumline will provide musical accompaniment for the first reveal of the season.Â
The project was partially inspired by Uelzen, Germany, which transforms its town hall each Christmas. Jacksonville and Uelzen have been doing student exchanges for over 30 years.Â
The display will be up through January 5, 2026.Â
