DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - People in Decatur with nowhere else to go get a special gift for the holiday season as part of an event run by Families Assisting the Next Generation.
Keenan Jackson, CEO of the organization, handed out dozens of gift bags Friday to the homeless at the Oasis Day Center on Cerro Gordo Street.Â
Jackson said he tries to give back to the community whenever possible.Â
"In the gift of giving for the holidays, it's the holidays, so I understand a lot of homeless people are unfortunate to get what they need, and it's a good time to give back to the community, especially to the homeless people that's out here in the streets. Overall, it's just caring for the people that need it," Jackson said.Â
Jackson and his team handed out about 100 bags to the people in the community.Â
