With the rising costs of many back to school supplies, Sunshine Supplies has a couple upcoming events for the community to watch out for.

FORSYTH, Ill. (WAND) - With back-to-school season just around the corner in Central Illinois, the cost of school items is only going up.

Fortunately for teachers in the area, one local organization is lending a helping hand. 

Sunshine Supplies for Teachers, a nonprofit that serves Macon and Piatt Counties, is a free store for educators that has donated almost $140,000 in school supplies since opening its doors in October 2024. 

The organization will have two upcoming events to assist those with their back-to-school shopping. 

Pack the Bus will take place from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 18, at Forsyth Park. There will be a school bus on-site for monetary donations or school supplies.

Then, the store will have an open house from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at the Hickory Point Mall in Forsyth. Attendees can enjoy breakfast items provided by Big Hungry's Daylight Donuts and TLC Coffee House.
