LINCOLN, Ill. (WAND) - Land of Lincoln Goodwill named a local woman as the Illinois Special Olympics Athlete of the Year.
Tracy Turner was honored at a ceremony in Springfield after 26 years as a Special Olympics athlete.
The organization said she goes into every competition with the same passion she has when cheering on her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
"Tracy is a fierce competitor with an incredible heart. Her accomplishments extend far beyond medals and awards. She inspires us every day with her positivity, determination and unwavering spirit," said Land of Lincoln Director of Adult Services Jill Domescik-Rink in a statement.
