DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Macon County Conservation District's annual Hummingbird Festival is coming up.Â
The festival will take place Thursday, August 21, from 3-6 p.m. at Rock Springs Conservation Area.Â
The event offers people the chance to learn about various hummingbird species and discover what attracts them to this area.Â
Attendees will be able to watch as wild hummingbirds are caught, banded, and released.Â
If you come early, you will have a chance to help release a hummingbird and enter a drawing to win a prize.Â
Bring a lawn chair to the west lawn of Rock Springs Nature Center. You may bring your own snacks or picnic dinner.Â
The festival is free. Donations are accepted. The event is co-sponsored by the Decatur Area Audubon Society. No registration is required.Â
