DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — WAND News spoke to locals around Macon County and asked about their Valentine's Day plans.

Some are choosing to spend it with family.

"We plan on going to Olive Garden. Just play some games, go home, play some board games, stuff like that," said mother-of-six Teressa Green.

"I'm gonna go home and watch Dirty Dancing with my mom," shared student Jessi Wade.

As for first grader Josie Little, she has her Valentine's day priorities straight.

"I'm gonna have a cupcake and yummy popcorn," said Josie.

Some people were scrambling to make sure they get that perfect, last minute git for their sweetie.

"I'm getting a picture frame to frame something. So I wrote a poem and I'm going to frame it and get it to my husband for a gift," said Amanda Hewitt.

"Right now I'm getting stuff for my, little thing going on, you know," said Kevin Hernandez.

Some couples have been together for years — and despite it all, there's never a dull day.

"My husband and I have been married 32 years this year," explained Pastor Patty Bilyeu. "We enjoy spending time with each other, and I think that's of great value. You know, we have similar interests, and we both like to laugh, and I think that, a key to a healthy, happy marriage."

For others, the love is just beginning.

"So today, my sister's actually getting married on Valentine's Day. The family is going to be here at the house, and then we're going to celebrate and just have a good time and celebrate everybody's love," shared Comfort Keepers Caregiver Rita Milot.
