DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Northeast Community Fund announced its executive director will be stepping down in August.

Executive Director Angel Lawrence will finish her service with the organization on August 3.

Under Lawrence's leadership, Northeast Community Fund said it has been able to expand its reach and grow programs in food distribution, emergency services, housing support, mobile outreach, home improvement help, and more.

Lawrence said, "Serving this community through Northeast Community Fund has been an honor. This work has never been about one person; it has always been about the families who walk through our doors, the staff and volunteers who serve with compassion, the donors and partners who believe in the mission, and a community that continues to show up for one another. I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together, and my hope is that NECF continues to grow stronger, serve deeper, and remains a beacon of hope for generations to come."

The Board of Directors will launch a search for NECF's next Executive Director in the coming weeks.

"Northeast Community Fund was founded on the belief that people deserve compassion, support, and hope in their most difficult moments," said Jerry Pelz, Founder of Northeast Community Fund. "That mission remains at the heart of everything we do. We are grateful for the work accomplished and confident that NECF will continue to serve this community with strength and purpose."
