DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Millikin University will host the Airmen of Note, the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force, Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
The Kirkland Fine Arts Center will welcome the servicemen and women, including Decatur native Master Sgt. David McDonald, who is a drummer for the group.
This concert is part of their 10-day tour through the Midwest. After performing in Indiana, the tour will conclude in Kansas City.
Sgt. McDonald spoke to WAND about the lasting impact that the central Illinois community continues to have on him.
"And a shared value of taking care of each other and being good band mates and a commitment to excellence. That's something that was instilled in a young age for me in this community," said Sgt. McDonald.
The Airmen of Note will also perform at Champaign Central High School Monday night at 7:00 p.m. and at the Kirkland Fine Arts Center at Millikin University Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
