DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The WAND Coats for Kids drive collected 2,718 coats this year.Â
The annual drive, now in its 34th year, is a collaboration between WAND and Dove, Inc. The drive works to collect coats across Macon County to give to families at no cost.Â
After they are collected, they are dry cleaned and organized for distribution.Â
The drive has now collected nearly 90,000 coats since it started. Area businesses, organizations, and on-profits host as collection sites for anyone to drop off a coat.Â
Dove is a Decatur-based non-profit that works to address unmet needs across the community. They offer programs tackling domestic violence issues, homelessness, education, volunteer and community empowerment, and individual emergency needs.Â
