Pending an official vote, the Decatur City Council is set to name Melissa Hon as the city’s next permanent City Manager. Hon has served as Interim City Manager since November 1, 2025, following the departure of former City Manager Tim Gleason. City leaders now say they are ready to remove the interim title and make her appointment official. Hon joined the City of Decatur earlier in 2025, first being hired as Deputy City Manager in February. Prior to her move to Decatur, she served as Director of the Department of Community Impact and Enhancement for the City of Bloomington, Illinois, and brings 25 years of experience working in local government.
