URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - A 14-year-old was hurt in a shooting in Urbana Thursday night.Â
Urbana police said a 14-year-old from Rantoul was shot around 8:10 p.m. in the 1100 block of Hill St.Â
Officers said the teen arrived at Carle Hospital with a gunshot wound. The wound was not life-threatening.
The investigation revealed that the 14-year-old victim and a 16-year-old boy were sitting inside a vehicle in the 1100 block of Hill Street when two male suspects approached the vehicle and began firing multiple shots into it.
The 14-year-old was shot. The 16-year-old was not injured. Both juveniles are residents of Rantoul.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding why they were parked in Urbana at the time of the incident.
Police are asking residents who live on Hill Street, Harvey Street, and Fairview Avenue to review any surveillance or doorbell camera footage and contact police with any information or suspicious activity observed around the time of the shooting.
