CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND)- The Annual Boneyard Arts Festival is returning for another year to showcase artists from the Champaign-Urbana community.

This festival is celebrating its 23rd year. Nearly 90 artists are participating in this year's event.

According to Elsie Hedgspeth, Director of Operations and Outreach at Champaign City Arts Council, this event is excellent for both young and veteran artists to gain recognition and potentially sell their artwork.

"It really is the one time for the year where we all come out and get to show off, maybe what we've been working on. And it's really important for artists in the community because for a lot of them it can be the first time that they're ever showing their art publicly, which is huge for an artist. It can also be a time for some of our veteran artists, like it's their big show of the year when they come to show their work," said Hedgspeth.

The event features a diverse range of artists across all ages and mediums.

"We have everything from poetry readings taking place, to tango music performances, paintings, drawings, sculptures, just a wide variety," said Hedgspeth.
