DECATUR, IL- Macon County will soon have a new state's attorney.

Current State's Attorney Jack Ahola announced Wednesday afternoon that he will retire when his current term ends next year. Ahola was first elected state's attorney in 2004.

Ahola says that after a nearly third of a century long career in the State's Attorney's Office, it is time to step aside and enjoy time with his family.

Ahola says he will support current First Assistant State's Attorney Jay Scott to be his successor.
