Champaign, IL- A man and his dog narrowly escaped an apartment fire in Champaign on Wednesday.
The fire started on the second floor at an apartment complex on North Neil Street. The apartment's resident says he came home around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday to find his apartment filled with heavy black smoke.
The man grabbed his dog and called the fire department. Firefighters say the flames were put out quickly and everyone in the building got out safely.  Â
