AUBURN, Ill. (WAND) — The city of Auburn has now unveiled their newly renovated and updated union park.

"Meg's Place" is now open to the public, and is completely ADA accessible. The playground is in honor of Megan Sheppard, who passed away nine years ago. Megan was born with a brain injury, and growing up, she never had a playground that met her disability needs.

Megan's family decided it was time more kids, like her, had a place to play.

The new playground features ADA accessible swings and equipment, as well as bathrooms and pickleball courts.

Megan's mother, Tracy Sheppard, shares how much of a gift this is to kids in Auburn, and everywhere. "I knew how important it was, being Megan's mom. If we went to a park, we had to go outside of our community because there was just nothing accessible here. Now, every kid of any ability will be able to enjoy this entire park."

The park is completely open to the community.
