BLOOMINGTON - The McLean County Sheriff's Office and McLean County Coroner's Office have released the names of the individuals involved in a stabbing incident in rural Bloomington on July 31.

Sheriff Jon Sandage says deputies responded to the Lara Trace Subdivision at about 8:56 a.m. for a report of a stabbing.  Upon arriving, deputies say they found two individuals who had suffered apparent stab wounds.

Authorities say Nancy Petersen, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:53 a.m., while Bruce Petersen, 68, was transported to OSF St. Francis Medical Center, where he would be pronounced dead at 3:41 p.m.  Coroner Dr. Kathy Davis says Nancy's death was the result of stabbing.

Deputies also say the Petersens' son, Brian Petersen, 25, was arrested at the scene.  Brian faces two preliminary charges of first-degree murder.  He is due back in court this afternoon.
