CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) -- A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after a shooting early Sunday morning in Champaign.
Police said the teen who had been shot in the torso arrived at a local hospital just before 2 a.m. Police said, he was immediately taken into surgery.
Investigators believe the man was a passenger in a vehicle traveling in the 1600 block of North Mattis Avenue when someone shared shooting at the vehicle. The victim was hit and taken to the hospital by personal transport.
Officers later located evidence of gunfire in the area and continue to search for witnesses and surveillance footage.
No arrests have been made, and police are still investigating.
