Building bridges to breastfeeding

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A number of groups collaborated with experts to discuss “Building Bridges to Breastfeeding.”

The session focused on successful techniques for expecting mothers and why they are encouraged to do so. They say they discourage pumping and bottling and say it is healthier for a baby and mother to connect.

Decatur Memorial Hospital, the Regional Breastfeeding Task-force, the United States Department of Agriculture and the Macon County Health Department were all involved.

Many mothers have trouble latching with their babies and the information session had helpful techniques and tips to cover the basics. If they're having trouble, Decatur Memorial Hospital says mothers are welcome to schedule an appointment with them to help find the proper care needed.

Decatur Memorial Hospital says it is their first time collaborating with these groups, adding that they are hopeful to do more collaborations in the future.
