(WAND) - Much of Central Illinois is experiencing very dry conditions as the season inches closer to fall.Â
The conditions put the region at risk of wildfires, which is why many burn bans have been issued in communities and counties throughout the area.Â
WAND News will keep you up to date on burn bans as they come in.
Coles County
The Coles County Emergency Management Agency has issued a county-wide burn ban due to dry conditions and wildfire risk.
The agency said in a Facebook post Friday afternoon that the ban begins at midnight and will remain until further notice.Â
County residents are urged not to do open burning of any kind and not to set off fireworks.Â
However, the agency added that small campfires in fire rings or contained fire pits are allowed, as long as residents do not leave them unattended and extinguish them when done.Â
