Coffee cup

(WAND) - Informational sessions are being held to look for proposals from vendors to open and operate a cafe in the new Springfield-Sangamon County Transportation Hub.

It will be opening 2027 in downtown Springfield.

The county is offering incentives to attract businesses, such as a basic commercial kitchen and potential subsidies on rent and utilities.

Two informational sessions are planned to explain The HUB space and RFP requirements. They will be available in person, virtually, and will be recorded.

Sessions will be:

  • Thursday, June 25 at noon - Innovate Springfield, 1 Horace Mann, Plz, 3rd floor classroom, Springfield. Zoom link here.
  • Monday, July 6 at 5:30 p.m. - Cap 1908, 1100 South Grand Ave. East, Springfield. Zoom link here.

The RFP is available at the Sangamon County's website. Potential applicants are invited to submit questions about the RFP to SangamonCountyProcurement@kindconsulting.org by June 30. All questions and responses will be compiled and posted on the county's website by July 6.

A community advisory committee will review and score all RFP submissions, invite finalists for interviews and make a recommendation this fall. Negotiations will continue between the advisory committee and the recommended vendor, with final approval coming from the county board. The planned date for opening a cafe is the fall of 2027.
