LACEY SPENCE

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Central Illinois native Lacey Spence will join WAND Wake Up on Sept. 8. 

Lacey will anchor the areas most-watched morning show with Anchor Deron Molen and Meteorologist Anthony Peoples weekdays from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. She will also occasionally anchor WAND News @ Noon and report on a wide range of stories across central Illinois. 

This is Lacey's second stint at WAND News. She anchored weekend morning newscasts from 2019 to 2020 after spending three years as an anchor and reporter at WTHI in Terre Haute, Ind. 

For the last five years, Lacey has worked as a program coordinator and host of several programs on the PBS station WEIU in Charleston, Ill. 

"We are excited to bring Lacey back to WAND News and join our experienced and talented morning team," said WAND News Director Rod Hissong. "Lacey has deep roots in central Illinois and her wealth of knowledge, kindness, energy, and good vibes fits perfectly with our Wake Up team."

An award-winning journalist, Lacey was honored as a "20 Under 40" in Coles County this year. She also holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Illinois University. 

She is also an active member of the leadership team at New Life Church in Sullivan, Ill. 

"I'm happy to rejoin the team at WAND News," Spence said. "I'm looking forward to connecting with viewers, sharing stories that matter, and supporting the region that I love."
