DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A Champaign County Sheriff's Deputy was injured in a crash in Urbana early Thursday morning, according to the Champaign County Sheriff's Department. 

The department said the two-vehicle crash happened around 4:15 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Florida Ave. and Lincoln Ave. in Urbana.

The department said the deputy was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition. The name of the deputy has not been released. 

The department also told WAND that the other vehicle involved was driven by a tow truck operator from Reynolds Towing Services. The driver was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries, but has since been released. 

The department has not said if the deputy was responding to a call or had lights and sirens activated. 

All lanes of traffic at the intersection were closed for almost eight hours, but reopened just after noon Thursday afternoon.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
