TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - It was a close call for a Taylorville school bus driver when ice and snow from a vehicle driving in front of them broke off and shattered the windshield.Â
The Taylorville Police Department shared pictures of the aftermath, warning drivers to clean off the tops of vehicles and license plants.
"This could have not only seriously injured or killed the bus driver but could have also caused the bus to crash and injure the passengers and potentially other vehicles," the police department posted.Â
Everyone on the bus was safe, and the driver was able to pull off to the side of the road.
"But please, make sure to clear off your vehicle in its entirety, not just your windows," TPD said. "You could literally save a life."
