DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur City Council approved on Monday almost $400,000 in contracts to get a new 24-hour daycare open.
Decatur has worked with a local daycare owner to renovate the former Wee Folks building on Orchard Street.
The project costs ballooned after the city learned it would take hundreds of thousands of dollars to get the building up to code.
Council also approved contracts with an electrician, architect and construction company to get the final work completed.
The tentative opening date has not yet been announced.
