Police arrest - handcuffs (C)

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A man and a woman are accused of making and selling methamphetamine laced lollipops in Decatur.

Leon Neal and Stephanie Sellers were both charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.

Decatur police said in October they started an investigation into Neal for selling meth lollipops. A lollipop that was obtained by police was sent in for testing and confirmed to contain meth.

While conducting surveillance on Neal, officers said they found the vehicle he was known to drive and an address he frequented, 24 Ridgeway Dr.

Stephanie Sellers was the registered owner of the vehicle Neal was driving and listed as the lessee for the home on Ridgeway.

On November 20, officers stopped Neal as he was driving the vehicle and leaving the home. Officers got a warrant for both the home and vehicle and said they found a large number of lollipops suspected of containing meth inside.

They said they found items and ingredients used to make the lollipops and candy that had been wrapped individually in plastic, as if for sale.

Police said Sellers admitted she saw officers coming and tried to throw the lollipops in the washing machine.

All of the lollipops suspected of containing meth with packaging weighed about 1,326.2 grams.

Sellers said Neal has been her boyfriend since December of 2024. She said Neal drives her car, because she does not have a valid driver's license and that he stays at her house almost every night.

She said Neal was responsible for making the lollipops and said she was counting them on the night of November 19, because someone was wanting to buy 100 of them. She said she taught Neal how to make lollipops and helped by putting corn syrup in a pot while they were being made.

Both Neal and Sellers are due in court December 10.
