URBANA, Ill. (WAND) -Â Urbana police are searching for a suspect who they believe to have shot a Circle K clerk during a robbery on Christmas Eve.
Officers were called out around 10:44 p.m. on December 24 to the Circle K located at 507 W. University Avenue after reports of a shooting with injuries. When officers arrived, they found a store clerk who had been injured during the course of the robbery.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where they were treated for their injuries. Police say the clerk remains hospitalized but is in stable condition.
Urbana PD describe the suspect as a male wearing a black jacket, black pants, sunglasses, and a face covering. Police said the suspect arrived at and fled the scene in a vehicle that was later determined to be stolen.
After the robbery, the suspect abandoned the vehicle, which was recovered by Urbana police. No arrests have been announced at this time.
The incident remains under investigation, and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Urbana Police Department.
