MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) — A man was arrested Friday after Illinois State Police seized drugs and a gun following an investigation in Coles County.
According to ISP, the state police East Central Illinois Task Force (ECITF) arrested 44-year-old Marcus M. Jackson of Mattoon on charges of unlawful possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver, armed violence, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, following an "extensive firearms investigation" in the Mattoon area.
Police said officers conducted an operation around 2 p.m. on Friday that resulted in the recovery of a gun related to Jackson. He was arrested and taken to the Mattoon Police Department.
Following his arrest, officers executed a search warrant at Jackson's home and found around 7 grams of cocaine, according to state police.
Jackson is currently being held at the Coles County Jail.
