Crossing Healthcare sm - 1

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — WAND News has learned that Crossing Healthcare is eliminating its residential treatment service by Wednesday, Nov. 27. The organization said discharge plans will be created for each patient so that they continue to receive treatment.

The closing will not affect Crossing outpatient services. The facility will continue to offer medication management, behavioral health counseling, and group therapy. The Transitions and apartment facilities for recovery housing will also remain open.

Crossing said 20-25 patients use the residential treatment services currently.

"Patient seeking recovery services is evaluated to determine the level of care most appropriate to meet their needs," Crossing said of the patients impacted. "This is unique to each individual patient.  When recovery or sober housing is available, many patients can have their treatment needs met on an outpatient basis.  We assist people in finding residential services. A helpful resource for the community is the Illinois Help Line."

Multiple staff members were informed Monday that they were being laid off. Crossing Healthcare said about 30 staff are affected. "We anticipate affected staff will apply for the eight open positions we currently have available on campus," they said in a statement.

A statement from the COO said that the decision was being made after "thorough analysis of financial and utilization data," and that the human resource department is "working with the affected staff to support them through this very hard time."

Crossing Healthcare started opening their healthcare buildings on the “Community Care Campus” in October of 2019The Community Care Campus was funded by a $60 million gift from the Howard G. Buffett Foundation.

The Crossing Recovery Center, a medical detox and residential treatment facility, and a transitional housing building with 60 beds started operations in October 2019 with Crossing Healthcare admitting patients to the recovery center beginning on Oct. 15, 2019.
