DECATUR, Ill. -- The recent shooting deaths of a Decatur couple has people speaking out against violence, and one local church is trying to stop it.

Main Street Church of the Living God was taking the message to the streets Sunday afternoon.

People were filing out of the church after service, crying out to end the violence in Decatur. They marched around the block, stopping to pray at a liquor store, bar and busy intersection.

People there say the recent violence shouldn't be a standard in the city.

"Put the guns down," said Dara Halliburton. "Let's get back like we used to do it, going to church and praying... to cease [the violence] in our city."

But church leaders say it's not just what's happening in the streets, it's what kids are learning at home. They're encouraging parents to talk with kids, and teach them that hurting others is not the right way to handle problems.
