DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur City Council officially hired Tim Gleason as the next City Manager Monday night.Â
Current City Manager Scot Wrighton is retiring in May.Â
Gleason previously served as Decatur City Manager from 2015 to 2018 before leaving to take on the City Manager role for the City of Bloomington. He has held that position for the last six years.Â
Gleason’s salary is $230,000 annually. He will also get six weeks paid vacation and a $650 monthly vehicle allowance that will be transferred to a deferred compensation retirement plan. Gleason also gets one year to establish permanent residency and $20,000 toward relocation expenses.
Previous positions he has held include City Administrator for the City of Washington, IL, a Deputy Director of the IL Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity, and a law enforcement officer for the City of Pekin for 21 years.Â
Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe previously said of Gleason, "Knowing the kind of work he does, his work ethic, his values, how he interacts with the community and with council, this is such a win for our city, and Decatur deserves the very best people."
"You don't know how blessed I consider myself to be professionally and personally with the opportunity to come back to this community, a community that I love," said Gleason.Â
