DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Decatur City Manager Scot Wrighton announced his plans to retire in May 2024.
Wrighton assumed the role in January of 2019. Tim Gleason previously served as city manager until he left for the same position in Bloomington, Illinois.

Council members knew about the retirement a few weeks ahead of the announcement. Their plan is to retain the consulting firm, GovHR to help with the search. This was the same firm used to find Wrighton after Gleason left.

Wrighton hopes to ensure a smooth transition to the next manager. “I like Decatur; I believe in Decatur; and I’m going to stay in Decatur,” Wrighton said. “I think we are truly moving the needle on a number of aspects in this community. It is just my time.”
Wrighton previously served as city manager for Streator, Illinois and Kirksville, Missouri.
