(WAND)- Decatur native Noelle Malkamaki wins gold and sets new world record in shot put at 2024 Paris Paralympics.

According to U.S. Paralympics Track & Field, Malkamaki is now the first woman's F46 shot putter to throw over 14 meters in competition. 

Malkamaki is a St. Teresa High School graduate.

After high school Noelle went on to compete at the collegiate level at Depaul University where she got the opportunity to compete for the United State of America.
