DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Decatur Public Schools is responding to discipline statistics released by the State Board of Education.

The State Board of Education listed districts including Decatur, Champaign, Bloomington, Danville, Peoria, Springfield as being in the top 20-percent for discipline statistics.

DPS said they are continuously reviewing their discipline practices in regards to suspensions, expulsions, and detention policies.

DPS said they will not be using Alternative Placement Rooms next school year. Instead they are instituting CARE, Recovery, and Transition Rooms.
