DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur Public School Board is learning more about its new international teacher program.
The initiative allowed the district to bring 36 teachers into DPS61 and fill vacant positions.Â
Teachers are receiving professional development and support from the district.Â
Both parents and teachers said Tuesday night that the program has helped students learn about new cultures, while also providing critical staffing in core subjects and special education.Â
